Nakya Carter is a Spring 2024 HBC graduate of Shaw University, earning a double major in Mass Communications and Business Management. Originally from Oklahoma
City, she has traveled coast to coast in pursuit of education and purpose, now rooted in Los Angeles where she works as an Event Specialist at AEG. In this role, she supports
high-profile live events and professional sports, working closely with legendary teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Kings.

Beyond the entertainment industry, Nakya is an educational public speaker, social entrepreneur, and wellness advocate. She is the founder of Human Journal, a wellness
initiative focused on supporting mental health and self-expression in college communities.

Nakya’s dedication to advocacy and empowerment is backed by a strong foundation in social justice, global education, and leadership development.

Her experiences include working with the Biden Administration, studying abroad, hosting red carpet events, and presenting as a TED speaker. These opportunities have
shaped her voice and mission: to create inclusive spaces where wellness, education, and justice are not only discussed but deeply valued. Through powerful storytelling and dynamic speaking engagements, Nakya continues to inspire underrepresented communities to embrace their light and lead with purpose.
