Overview

This program will share the historical foundation of the National Pan-Hellenic Council known as the Divine 9. How did this council evolve to 9 organizations? What did the founders encounter during the infancy of organization existence? What historical barriers were champion by the notable members of these organizations? These are some of the questions that will be discussed. Through our collective examination of the historical achievements of the 9 organizations, we will ensure the attendees understand continued success is directly connected to the shared collective responsibility of scholarship and service. The significant contributions of notable members have broke barriers of social and civic disparity are a part of the marathon to success. This program will provide action steps to ensure all community members feel like they are connected to the history of the D9. Collectively, we will ensure the experience continues to be documented as progressive historical contributions.

Learning Outcomes

  • The attendee will learn the historical development of each D9 organizations
  • The attendee will learn about the organization of the NPHC and the evolution of 9 collective organization
  • The attendee will understand history brought about change, therefore change agents are required to continue the work
  • The attendee will learn about the contributions of the D9 that have served as a catalyst for progressive change

Jarrod D. Benjamin, MBA

Mr. Jarrod D. Benjamin is the Florida International University Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Program Director and Adjunct Professor. He currently manages and develops curriculum embedded certifications for the Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy. He serves as a subject matter expert on the $3 million dollar Intelligence Community-Center of Academic Excellence consortium grant. His work on this grant provides a career pipeline for students to receive career opportunity in the Intelligence Community. Jarrod specializes in various business related issues, anti-hazing, and urban development.
